Message from the Head of School
Dear Friends,
The past year has challenged our world in ways no one could have ever imagined. I find myself humbled and in awe by the level of care our St. Margaret’s community has shown to one another, resilience to persist in difficult times and commitment to our shared mission. As a professional community, St. Margaret’s tapped into its deep well of ingenuity to adapt in countless ways to rise to complex new challenges to sustain learning, growth and well-being for our students.
We also looked to our Highlander Magazine as an opportunity to reimagine and reflect these times, and bring current stories and more varied content to our community. I am excited to introduce this new web-friendly, multimedia format for the Winter 2021 issue, which as always tells the in-depth story of the many wonderful things happening at the school.
Our cover story demonstrates how our ongoing innovation strategy well equipped us as an institution with an enthusiasm for change and prepared us to pivot, adapt and create new learning opportunities for students over the past year, and includes four divisional films that provide a “Peek Inside Our Everyday” on campus this year. Please also spend time reading about Equity and Inclusion as the school’s fifth Core Value that was further explored and strengthened this year, as well as a profile on the cinematic arts program that continues to triumph, a closer look at the one-of-a-kind and recently upgraded Early Childhood School campus and Reggio-Emilia inspired academic program, catch up with alumni and professional community members, and read through the 2021 State of the School executive summary report.
As you browse the pages of the Highlander in this new way, please feel free to let us know your feedback on the new format by emailing our editorial team, communications@smes.org. Our goal is to present an annual blend of web and traditional print issues to continue telling the story of our extraordinary St. Margaret’s students and community.
As this Highlander demonstrates, St. Margaret’s continues to move forward in exciting ways even in the midst of global challenges, and remains a healthy and nurturing environment with the promise of its best days still ahead. We thank you for your partnership in this important work.
Sincerely,
Will Moseley
